Mature Garden Landscaping

The brief for the project was to create a path through a beautiful, mature garden leading to the new studio at the end of it. Additionally, the path and its surrounds had to look like they belonged to the garden and had always been there.

The studio at the end of the garden was designed and installed by Ecospace^® studios. They developed their contemporary modular garden studios 15 years or so ago. These studios have the benefit that thy cost less than a home extension, take just five days to install and can be exempt from planning permission.

To achieve the aged look for the pathway to the studio we used Chelmer Valley Cotswold Blend Brick Pavers. The stone  is brown to yellow in an aged finish with occasional blush tones for effect. It’s perfect for classic restoration and for renovation work for period properties.

The result is a clay path with great character. It looks like it has always been there and is not shiny new and bold, jarring the appearance of this beautiful garden.

To complete this project and add to the weathered look, we used a stunning black Millboard Deck using Embered Millboard. It provides an addition outdoor space to the studio where you can sit and relax.

Embered Millboard is Inspired by the Japanese Yakisugi technique. It is moulded from 100-year old reclaimed oak timber, creating a distinctive worn look – without the 100-year wait. It’s also slip and stain resistant and neither does it rot or warp like wood.
