Hampton Driveway

Hampton Driveway

Driveways require designs that combine function with beauty! Often seen as a sea of one single material, resulting in a car park!

This driveway in Hampton achieves not only a practical area suitable for numerous cars but a beautiful space with lots of planting, additional feature with paths and porcelain paving and new front boundary wall, railings and automated sliding gate.

The beauty of a shingle drive is a soft aesthetic, enhanced security (that ‘scrunch’ is a real deterrent!) and very importantly, free draining. The threshold in porcelain gives separation from the main drive area to the pavement and the house. In a rectilinear layout, the introduction of a sinuous, path softens the lines and breaks up, what would otherwise be, a very large area of shingle.

Materials pallet of Platinum porcelain from London Stone, with matching bullnosed step to the front door. Main drive area laid to Dove Grey Limestone supplied by Mainland Aggregates, installed into Nidagravel stabilising matting. Tobermore block paved path and edging.

Bespoke railings and automated sliding gate, fabricated by Steel Makers.
